Abstract

This collection, assembled from the Seattle University Committee for the Japanese Remembrance Garden, contains planning documents, minutes, and reports of the committee (2004-2006). It also includes artifacts, news clippings, photographs and memorabilia relevant to family histories and internment at Minidoka Relocation Center in Idaho during World War Two, as well as selected sermons and photographs of Father Leopold H. Tibesar, a Maryknoll priest.

William J. Sullivan, SJ served as the 20th President of Seattle University from 1976-1996, and also as Chancellor from 1996-2009. Fr. Sullivan was one of the most successful administrators in Seattle University history, stabilizing finances, establishing an endowment, inaugurating new academic and professional programs (most notably the Law School), while transforming the physical campus. This collection contains records from his time as President (1976-1996) and Chancellor (1996-2009).
